I’m delighted with the contents of this report and that the joint select committees have comprehensively asked the government to think again on mental health. There are just so many issues that the Green Paper missed or got wrong. The Government are still unwilling to accept that exam pressure goes a long way to causing mental health issues in young people and it is beyond belief that they think the problem can be fixed by adding an additional duty onto schools that already have over worked teachers and underfunded budgets. The Government needs to take these cross party recommendations seriously, listen to the Select Committees and design a system for children’s mental health that can really do something to assist with the crisis that we are facing.
