After meeting with Chris Grayling, the Transport Minister, last week, I am pleased he has confirmed that the bridge over Castle Street will now be built next year.
I have been pushing for this since I got elected and so it is great that there is now confirmation that it will definitely go ahead.
I am not going to stop here though. The rest of the road development needs to go ahead by the planned start date of 2020 and I will be working hard to ensure there are no more delays to this.
This development is essential for the economic development of the city and while I welcome the confirmation of the bridge I will not rest until the Castle Street development is completed.
