I support the UCU members on strike. All parties need to get back to the negotiating table, including University Vice Chancellors and it is unacceptable for them to ignore the concerns of lecturers. No one takes strike action lightly and this could have been avoided if there was any meaningful negotiation.
Universities UK has acted irresponsibly, following recent pensions scandals and I expect better of our world-class universities. There needs to be a compromise found which protects pensions, while ensuring students’ education is not affected.
