Nearly £35,000 Recovered for Residents Caught Up in Funeral Plan Scandal

Residents across Hull West and Haltemprice who lost money after purchasing fraudulent funeral plans have recovered almost £35,000 following support to pursue claims with their banks.

The people affected by this awful scandal had already experienced an unimaginable betrayal. Many spent years putting money aside, often their life savings, to ensure their loved ones would not face financial worry or difficult decisions at an already painful time. They placed their trust in a funeral provider to honour those wishes, and that trust was broken.

After being contacted by residents who had purchased plans from Robert Bush, I worked with those affected to help them challenge decisions and pursue refunds through their banks. As a result, residents have now recovered nearly £35,000 that had been lost through the fraudulent funeral plans.

While no amount of compensation can undo the uncertainty and distress that so many families have experienced, I am glad to have played a small part in helping residents in Hull West and Haltemprice recover the money they were owed. I am also pleased that the banks involved recognised the significant impact this situation has had and chose to show goodwill by offering these refunds.

For those who have received refunds, I hope this provides at least some measure of justice. It will never erase what happened, but I am relieved that many families have now recovered funds that they worked hard throughout their lives to save.

I would encourage anyone who lives in Hull West and Haltemprice and has been affected by the sale of fraudulent funeral plans with Legacy Independent Funeral Directors to get in touch with me and I’ll do everything I can to support you getting a refund.
