Dear Friend,
Summer in the City
Looking for things to do with the kids or grandkids?
The annual Healthy Holidays Summer Programme started on 23 July and has fun events all over the city. There’s a whole range of free activities including multi sports, outdoor education, street dance and musical theatre, cooking sessions, arts and crafts sessions and a full SEND programme.
There’s also Free Junior Swimming for u-15s (u-8s must be accompanied by an adult) at Woodford, Albert Avenue and Beverley Road baths
No booking needed – just turn up during the session, complete a quick Healthy Holidays form, and dive in. Sessions can get busy, so arriving early is recommended to avoid disappointment!
There are also events happening in the city centre and one of my favourite Dino day s back! I went last year and loved seeing how excited the children (and some adults!) were when they saw the robotic dinosaurs. You can find our more here: What’s On Hull
Investing in our City
Good news for Hull as more investment is coming into our city. I really enjoyed my visit to EYMS buses to see where the new charging points for the Green zero emission buses are going. This is part of a £3.8m investment from the government along with private investment to bring 82 Green buses to our city. This will really help to reduce air pollution and dangerous levels of NO2 making our city a healthier place to live.
Opportunities are continuing to grow in the renewables sector, and I’m delighted that Power2X Solutions (eFuels Humber), based in The Humber Port, has been awarded £1.5 million through the third round of the UK Government’s Advanced Fuels Fund. This funding supports pioneering projects that produce sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), which can cut emissions by over 70% compared to traditional jet fuel. Power2X’s project will develop a commercial-scale plant using ethanol-to-jet technology to convert e-methanol into SAF—contributing to Britain’s clean energy goals and the mission to reach net zero by 2050.
I also visited BABC Renewables, a local company that focuses on renewable energy. They provide consultation services to help companies and organisations implement the most effective renewable energy systems. I was particularly impressed to meet former students from Ron Dearing who are now completing their Degree Apprenticeships with the company. It was inspiring to see how they are nurturing local talent in this vital sector.
It’s clear to me that for our region’s future prosperity, we must fully support renewable energy. We are growing businesses and building expertise right here, positioning ourselves as leaders in the UK. This growth is generating new jobs and opportunities. We must all be vigilant against anyone who seeks to undermine this progress or put it at risk for their own personal political gain.

Our Imagination Station
I absolutely loved my visit to the Imagination Station in Hessle. As a qualified primary teacher, I understand just how important child-initiated play is for a child’s development. There is so much learning that takes place when young children engage in imaginative play. They begin to make sense of the world, solve problems, develop communication skills, and so much more — all while simply having fun.
The Imagination Station is located in the old Barclays Bank building in Hessle, which has been completely refurbished into a charming mini street. It features themed rooms including a café, theatre, jail, home, and hospital, all equipped with props and costumes that allow children to fully immerse themselves in the world of play.

Re:Uniform
6 years ago, I set up RE: Uniform to help families in Hull and East Yorkshire with the cost of school uniforms. I’m happy that the Government’s ‘Children’s Wellbeing and Schooling Bill’ we passed earlier this year has limited the number of compulsory branded uniform items to two, saving families in Hull West and Haltemprice an average £50 a year per child.
I’m delighted that RE:Uniform is still going strong and it’s now that time of year when lots of parents are clearing out old school uniform. Please donate any unwanted uniform at these drop off points and if you need free uniform visit their Facebook page and fill in a form.
Vulcan Centre
Another opportunity to make use of unwanted clothing! If anyone has any sportswear or trainers they no longer use then please consider donating them to Vulcan Centre on Heron Street – just off Selby Street near Boulevard.
The Vulcan Centre are an amazing local charity organisation that helps young people and those in the local community to achieve their potential and direct them towards a positive future. Their work is truly life-changing.
And finally…
As always, I’m here to support you. I do a face-to-face surgery every week so you can always come and see me. If you have any questions, concerns, or ideas about how I can help, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. You can email me at emma.hardy.mp@parliament.uk or call my office at 01482 219211. Leave a message if I’m unavailable, and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can.
Best wishes,
Emma Hardy MP

P.S. I wrote to Hull CC about the state of the road markings at Gypsyville roundabout after complaints from constituents, and they have agreed to repaint them. If you’re a constituent and there’s anything in your area you think needs sorting let me know.
