I’m super excited that the Future Parliament Programme is back for its second year!
After the success of last year’s programme, working with Hull College and the University of Hull, I’m thrilled we will get to see another group of young people explore how our democracy works. Last year, we watched young people from across our area come alive with ideas, questions, and the kind of energy our democracy urgently needs.
Every young person in Hull West and Haltemprice should have the opportunity to chase their ambitions. But let’s be honest, not everyone starts with the same connections or networks, which can put them at an unfair disadvantage.
That’s why this programme matters. The Future Parliament Programme is here to level the playing field and ensure those who might not otherwise have the connections, get the same opportunities as those who do.
I honestly believe that when people from all walks of life contribute to decisions that affect us all, our democracy becomes stronger, more just, and more reflective of who we are. This programme offers you the chance to:
-Find out what happens in Westminster
-Explore the behind-the-scenes roles which keep our democracy ticking over
-Learn how to write a powerful speech
-Deliver your speech to graduate from the programme
You don’t need to be studying politics, you just need curiosity and enthusiasm!
Applications are open to anyone aged 16-18 living in Hull West and Haltemprice and will close on Friday 27th June, so sign up now!
