The Odour Monitoring Report of the Biowise site is now available in summary. The second and final odour monitoring will take place between July and August this year.
At the latest Community Liaison meeting, Biowise shared future plans for improvements to the handling of waste at the meeting. They will be submitting a planning pre-application early this year to move the maturation pad (where composting takes place) from its current location to a cutting on the site 900m further north of Willerby roundabout to where the screening and shredding activities currently occur.
This would be below ground level, reducing the ability of breezes to carry odour and all screening and shredding activities would be moved indoors (currently only shredding is). It would also mean waste would no longer need to be moved by tractor trailer across Westfield Road to the maturation pads. Biowise hope these actions will further reduce instances of strong odours.
