Broadband poles update

Dear Friends,

It’s good to see the new Labour government taking the issue of telecoms companies not sharing infrastructure seriously. Minister of State for Data Protection and Telecoms, Chris Bryant, summoned CEOs of telecoms companies to a roundtable recently, including MS3, Connexin and KCOM.

He voiced the concerns of the public who have had telegraph poles lodged outside their homes, often without prior notice, and made it clear to CEOs that these installations are “not considerate to anyone’s way of life.

Having received commitments to find ways to collaborate including poles more effectively and to better consult and inform residents, he called for “urgency” in delivering them.

I have been in touch with all the Hull companies and they have informed me that they are actively working towards a sharing agreement and progress is being made.

I will continue to stay in close contact with all companies and keep you all updated with any progress made.

Best wishes,

Emma
