A prominent group of MPs led by Hull West and Hessle’s Emma Hardy have condemned local Hull firm FCC Environment for failing to pay local workers sick pay – a right they reserve solely for Managers and Supervisors.
Emma Hardy is leading the charge for sick pay equality and along with 25 colleagues has written to the firm to demand it cleans up its act. In the letter they asked FCC Environment – a recipient of Government contracts – to ‘strive to undertake your business practices to a high standard that promotes equality and respect amongst and towards your employees and to conduct yourselves in a manner fitting the dignity of your position.’
Emma Hardy MP added, “This firm benefits from Government contracts and as such I expect them to play by the rules recognised by most people as being fair. Namely sick pay for all – not just those at the top. Workers have been on strike three times over this – and I fully support them. I hope that FCC Environment bosses sit up and take notice. I have already raised this in the House of Commons and will keep on fighting until this wrong is put right.”
